NYSC Members will henceforth collect their mobilisation call up online

 Starting from 2014 Batch B,
prospective National Youth
Service Corp, NYSC, members
will henceforth collect their
mobilisation call-up letters for
orientation online.
The exercise is aimed at
alleviating prospective corps’
members from traveling from
their states of domicile after
graduation to their schools in
order to collect the call-up
letters.
Director-Genera l, DG, of the
NYSC, Brig.-Gen. Johnson
Olawumi, gave the hint
yesterday, during the pre-
mobilisatio n seminar in
preparation for 2014 Batch B in
Enugu.
Oluwumi said: “It is for
automation for mobilisation
process for NYSC. The
mobilisation process will be
done through automation that
a graduate from a school in
Sokoto, for example, would not
have to go to Sokoto to collect
his call-up letter. All that will be
done online.”
He also said that the agency
was widening its scope of
primary assignment from the
four key areas of posting corps members
to accommodate other sectors
so as to reduce the rate of
rejection of corps members.
He listed the new areas to
include the banking sector, Oil
and Gas, Telecommunication,
among others. Oluwumi stated that
because of insecurity in some
states of the North- East where
there is emergency rule, the
NYSC does not post corps
members to states, except on
demand.
The workshop tagged,
“Consolidating Effective
Strategies for a Credible
Mobilisation process”, is
expected to provide a platform
for interfacing between NYSC
and corps producing
institutions geared towards re-
engineering the scheme for
optimum operations.
Addressing the participants,
Gen. Olawumi said, "The
management will leave no
stone unturned to ensure that
the vast human resources at
the disposal of the scheme is
appropriately deployed to all
areas of need within the state.
